An unspoilt campsite in the heart of Sussex

Kitts Cottage Campsite

Kitts Facilities

The word "facilities", must be one of the most revolting in the English language. However, I am pleased to say that there is absolutely nothing revolting about the new Field Barn that has been built at Kitts.

Traditionally constructed in Green Oak, it incorporates the latest in Solar Technology and houses a deeply luxurious and beautifully planned Shower, loo and basin combination. The ceramic tile floor is a joy to walk on, so much so, that slippers need no longer to be left unpacked and unloved at home.

The girls side has three full-flush lavatories (portacabins eat your heart out), 2 spacious showers and three wash-hand basins. The boys side has two full-flush lavatories (including one with disabled access), three wash basins, two showers and a stand-up situation as well! There are mirrors above each basin, so that there is no longer any excuse for that dishevilled, morning-after-the-night-before look.

On top of that, discreet, low level lighting switches on automatically when the inside area is in use. This makes for a whole new night-time experience for adults and children alike - and those torches can be conserved for a different use!

Outside, there is a covered washing area with three huge basins. It obviously never rains at Kitts, but in the event of a touch of inclement weather, campers can carry out their chores - safe in the knowledge that they are protected from the elements.

Although we believe that this whole process was sustainable building at its best, we also felt the need to compensate for any carbon footprint that constructing the Field Barn may have created. The 2,300 new trees that have been planted on Kitts over the winter are our reward to the environment and one that will only enhance the beauty of Kitts in the years to come.
